“While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully” (Daniel 7:8).

“So he said, ‘Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come;'” (On. I wrote in The Business of Submission that I believed the Holy Spirit led me to this exchange, because, like Daniel, God has heard my earnest prayers, but I was still working out the purpose of emphasizing verse 20, and this morning, I believe I received an answer.

I am convinced that the emphasis was a warning of things that would precede the coming of the Antichrist. We are living in a time not unlike that of Nebuchadnezzar, but greater than Nebuchadnezzar has yet to come, and finally, at the appointed time, the lawless one will be revealed. “While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully” (Daniel 7:8). Hearts are going to be revealed in the days ahead; in fact, their revelation is already underway. Let us not forget about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and our Savior who stood with them midst the flames. “For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect” (Matthew 24:24). There is nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9).

I take comfort from what Jesus told His disciples, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). We should not be surprised when no pretribulation rapture whisks us away; No, the wheat will bear witness to the chaff unto the harvest. “Then he told me, ‘Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near. Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy’” (Revelation 22:10-11). The Spirit has shown me snippets of this not so distant world; a world in which it felt like night even in the daytime. Powers and principalities operated in plain view. People carried on with the business of life, and even though the ground was crumbling beneath their feet, they chose to ignore what was plain to see. Perhaps, the world I saw is closer than we dare think.

The enemy isn’t the only one on the prowl, the Holy Spirit is very much at work today too; God is preparing His bride to endure the coming persecution and bear witness to His Gospel. The lesson of the widow’s offering continues to speak truth into our lives today; revival will emerge from out of our poverty, not our abundance, and our persecution will fan the flames, as many fall away. “Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me” (John 15: 20-21). Brothers and sisters, let us fast and pray and repent, in preparation of what lies ahead. Let us walk into what is to come rejoicing in the Lord! Indeed, as much as the idea of suffering for my Lord is frightening, admittedly, if I’m alive in those dreadful days, I fully expect to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit, in my weakness, and through it all, joyfully glorify my Savior, until I see His beautiful face, and He reaches out His hand to welcome me into His kingdom: “Good and faithful servant.”

Two final notes.

On a happier note, I recently had an opportunity to share a vision, which I received over ten years ago, with the person to whom it pertained. God’s perfect timing took more than a decade in come to pass, but the exchange was well worth the wait. The person was edified, I was was edified, and best of all, Christ was glorified! I was permitted a glimpse into a situation, which God had well in hand, although it may not have seen so at the time, and one of the personal details I was given, in particular, not only confirmed for us both that the vision was valid, but brought the person comfort. So it wasn’t about wowing someone with a vision, psychics supposedly do that, but the vision brought them solace in the Lord’s loving provision and sovereignty. Moreover, I have written about how I struggle sometimes with doubt, and other times even question my own sanity, so I think I needed to have that conversation about as much as they did.

On a less happy, more so concerning note, there are forces working double-time to make Jesus fit yet another false narrative. Although I believe some may be well intentioned, these people are bearing false witness, against our Lord, with slanderous claims. For the record, Jesus did seek out the hurting and disenfranchised of His day, but to my knowledge, Jesus never aligned Himself with political activist movements prone to violence and division. Jesus was about His Father’s work. “In that hour Jesus said to the crowd, ‘Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me. But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.’ Then all the disciples deserted him and fled” (Matthew 26:55-56). If there was a moment when picking up a sword was going to be the answer, the night of the Lord’s arrest would have certainly been that time. Read the entire account of His arrest, and then consider His response. Besides, about who we are to love, Jesus tells us plainly. and without exception or qualifier, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

I am headed to bed. Good night my friends far and wide, as well as those close by. May God bless and keep you all.
