“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
I received a much needed Holy Spirit renewing yesterday through into the evening. The past year has been such a difficult season, but I praise God and rejoice, for the darkness and anxiety and emptiness have not been suffered in vain. Devil should have just left me be. I also received understanding into two visions I received, over the past few years, pertaining to a particular church. First I’ll share the post in which I wrote about the visions, and then I’ll share what the Spirit revealed concerning them.
“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work” (Ephesians 4:14-16).
I received a vision in which fire flew into the sanctuary of a church engulfing everyone and everything in its path. When the flames disappeared much less remained, but what remained had been refined. “If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work” (1 Corinthians 3:12-13). I saw the enemy standing off to the side observing all that had happened.
Years later, I received another vision standing outside the same church. When I stretched out my hand, and touched the air with my finger, I saw some kind of rippling effect; the best description would be that of a force field on Star Trek. I looked up into the sky and saw a dark spiritual power hovering above the church. Next, Holy Spirit took me into the sanctuary of the church and showed me a large beating heart that had grown lukewarm, and I was given the impression that it was dying. Speaking to the Church in Laodicea, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:15-16). I was deeply troubled and saddened by what I was shown, but I was also grateful for the warning. God is rich in mercy! Let us repent!
Finally, please disregard everything in the cover image, except for the rippling effect. I speak a lot about visions in this blog, and now, after several internet searches, I found a fair representation of the effect I saw when I touched the air with my finger, minus the reflection. I am a little surprised that image was the best I could find. Sorry, no fingers conjuring fire this time.
I understand now why God showed me what He did on those occasions, and there’s a lot at stake, much more than I initially realized. Perhaps, if I had been a little sharper, I would have understood sooner, or perhaps, it just wasn’t the right time. The church in the vision is the church I belong, and it stands as the last vestige of resistance to the enemy on behalf of the neighborhood it’s located. The enemy seeks to destroy (John 10:10) my church and lay claim to the surrounding community. In fact, many of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ are already under spiritual attack, undergoing terrible trials, and I’m afraid many more trials are still to come. Both priest and prophet will be held accountable, and God’s people will perish alongside them, because of their willful lack of knowledge (Hosea 4), but so they would not perish, God has empowered them to detect falsehood and recognize footholds and overcome any other insidious scheme the enemy puts forth. “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). After all, to whom much is given, much is required (Luke 12:48), and God gave His children the greatest gift of all; we have been given the Holy Spirit!
There may never be a good time, but there is definitely a right time, and now is the time to wake up from our slumber and stand firm. As the apostle Paul instructed the Ephesians,”Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (6:10-12). So, suit up my brothers and sisters; it’s time to march into battle.
