My mother was creative, and she knew how to best use the gifts that God provided. When my two sisters and I were younger, our mother made most of our dresses. Many times, all three dresses would be made from cloth of the same design, the same pattern, and the same color. One of the reasons for this was that she used feedsacks for her cloth, (feedsacks held the food for livestock such as chickens or pigs). There was great excitement among us girls when our father would come home with feedsacks, acquired either by buying feed himself, but usually given to him by people. We knew that our mother would soon be making us new dresses! The feedsacks were usually all the same sensibly colored patterns made from 100% cotton, but sometimes they would be of different colors and patterns. If this were the case, my sisters and…
