“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left” (Matthew 25:31-33).

Teachable Moments was about a spiritual dream I had a few nights ago. What I shared before was seen in the foreground; the background was a whole other matter. God willing, I had hoped to share the rest another day. The background began unraveling that morning, like a bow being untied, and finished late last night.

Here is what I received:

Christ is the church, and those in Christ are his Body; that which the powers of hell will not overcome. The institutional church belongs to Satan; that which man has made in his own image. Now the two are intertwined and nearly indistinguishable, but when the Son of Man comes in his glory, he will separate them as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And both will ask the Lord the same question: when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you? (Matthew 25:31-46).

God has directed my steps and is delivering me into the hands of the enemy; this is something he foretold would happen some time ago. Am I afraid? At the moment, I am. I do not know what to do; I am totally overwhelmed. And that is exactly where I am supposed to be; a place of complete dependence. I feel pressure to take action, but I have not been directed to act. I feel pressure to retreat, but I have not been directed to run. I have only been directed to stand my ground. I have to trust God; he alone will deliver me; he alone will bring his plan to fruition. I am neither qualified, nor equipped, to do anything on my own. I find that it’s in my total disadvantage that I have the advantage (Deuteronomy 31:8; Jeremiah 10:23).

Teachable Moments puts me in mind of The One Working Behind the Scenes and Present Warnings. I believe God is speaking a single urgent message through all three encounters. Everything God does is so rich in meaning that I can’t help feeling like what I have shared thus far amounts to not much more than the highlights reel. Dig deep into the Word and pray. Time is of the essence.
