“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people” (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

This scripture keeps coming up and for good reason. It is a glaring warning to heed. It should make every one of us, especially professing Christians, at least a little uncomfortable; uncomfortable enough to cause us to self-reflect. So far, I’ve shared the foreground of some of the dreams given to me by the Holy Spirit. Now, I’m going to write about what I saw in the background.

If my dreams have been any indication, great change is drawing near, and the world will be drastically different from the one we know; our complacency will be shattered. I saw city streets empty and buildings abandoned; the population significantly diminished. I saw people who were constantly on the move; hurrying from place to place seeking shelter and provision. I suspect many of them were placing their hopes on a rapture that would come, in due time, but not as soon as they would like. My feeling is that events failed to unfold as expected, and they were caught off guard. “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:9-14).

“For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man” (Matthew 24:38-39). In the world I saw, it was night even in the daytime; this was something that always struck me. The sky could be bright and sunny, yet it felt like night to me. I saw powers and principalities operating right out in the open, and I sometimes had trouble differentiating between man and demon; this filled me with the greatest dread. And from what I could tell, there were other people simply carrying on with the business of life, even though the ground was clearly crumbling beneath their feet. A few times, I noticed Satan observing me from a distance; he never dared to approach.
