“But be assured today that the Lord your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire. He will destroy them; he will subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly, as the Lord has promised you” (Deuteronomy 9:3).

I’m given glimpses of the powers and principalities of this world at work in images and contexts my mind is able to understand; this has been going on now for a few years. I believe to see any more clearly would be more than what I can bear. Venomous spiders, scorpions, and snakes; anything that creeps and scurries; permeating throughout and passing through. These demonic powers carry death and intend harm, but the Holy Spirit protects me; they surround, but are prevented from approaching too closely. Yes, the things that go bump in the night are quite real.

It’s unsettling to wake up in the middle of the night to find hooded figures standing around your bed, walking into someone’s home and sensing a presence that shouldn’t be there, or hearing an audible voice literally yell, “Get out!” into your ear. Sometimes I’m lead to drive them out, while other times, I’m lead to do nothing at all. Learning to discern the difference has been a difficult and occasionally painful and embarrassing process. I find people more often than not harder to deal with than spirits; rebellion, fear, and unbelief all conspire to complicate matters, and the enemy takes any advantage our free will presents.

The Lord goes before me, in the same way he went before the Israelites crossing the Jordan into Canaan. “But be assured today that the Lord your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire. He will destroy them; he will subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly, as the Lord has promised you” (Deuteronomy 9:3). These gruesome and terrible beings of great power and strength literally cower, trembling even, in corners, and in other hiding places, in fear of God; it is truly a sight to behold! A Christian who comes into their authority in Jesus Christ is, likewise, terrifying to the enemy, because the one who is in us is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

I’ve used this blog as a vehicle from which to begin sharing these experiences more broadly, and I hope people listen to my warning. I really have nothing to gain from sharing such things publicly other than setting myself up for potential rejection and ridicule; a laughingstock. As the occult permeates further into our society and captivates our collective imaginations, and God’s relevance diminishes, the fruits will undoubtedly continue to bear witness to our terrible choice. It is time we wake up.
